We had such great energy at our 4th quarter meeting! Women were excited to be at our last meeting of the year and they brought guests to join in the fun! Venue was gorgeous, Baeslers provided delicious snacks for our ladies and the evening kicked off with a recap of our year. This year we had 164 members and prior to the 4th quarter we had donated a total of $46,500 to CODA, the Vigo County Education Foundation and the Terre Haute Symphony! Since this group began in 2013, we have awarded $352,000 to local nonprofit organizations!!
In addition to the giving that takes place at the quarterly meetings, your membership dues each year go into endowment funds at the Wabash Valley Community Foundation. The Foundation uses the interest accrued from these endowment funds to grant out money to nonprofits in our community. This year, the Foundation was able to give out over $4,000 to four separate nonprofit organizations because of the continued membership of the women of 100+ Women Who Care!
We heard three compelling presentations:
- First, Jenny Piker spoke on behalf of the Saint Joseph Utilities Assistance Ministries who work with the Salvation Army and provide utility bill relief for the working poor.
- Second, Char Minnette spoke on behalf of Historic Allen Chapel, an important historical church in Terre Haute that is celebrating it’s 180th birthday and needs funding to finish repairs.
- Third, Eleanor Ramseier spoke on behalf of Camp Navigate, a Summer Camp and after-school program that is looking for funding to have a central office space and to further develop more programs for the camp
