Dixie Y. Rudy was born on March 6, 1937, in Albion, Illinois, to Samual Earl Tait and Hazel Etheridge Tait. She graduated from Richmond High School in Richmond, Indiana, in 1956, and went on to build a life defined by love, faith and meaningful connections.
Dixie married Carroll Gene Rudy on December 8, 1981, and together they shared many happy years surrounded by friends and family. A dedicated member of Immanuel Evangelical Lutheran Church in Terre Haute, Dixie lived her faith deeply, serving on the Altar Committee and cherishing her church community.
She spent 24 years in administrative roles at the APS Clinic, where she was recognized for her exceptional organization, unwavering commitment, and caring heart. Her colleagues and patients alike appreciated her strong sense of doing things “the right way.”
But it was outside of work where Dixie truly shone. She had a gift for making people feel at home and never missed an opportunity to gather those she loved around the table. Her generous and fun-loving spirit made her a natural hostess, and she loved nothing more than entertaining her family and friends with laughter, great food, and warm conversation.
Dixie passed away on Tuesday, July 1. In place of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in her memory to the Wabash Valley Community Foundation, 200 South 8th Street, Terre Haute, IN 47807.
