Travis James Smith Mental Attitude Award

Travis James Smith was the son of Jimmy and Tami Smith. He was a 2006 graduate of Terre Haute South Vigo High School. Travis was an exceptional golfer, having tied for fourth in the IHSAA boys’ golf state finals at the Legends of Indiana Course in Franklin his senior year, leading the South Braves to a second-place finish. He also had a ninth-place finish in the state finals his sophomore year. Overall, he was a state finalist four times in his high school career. Also in high school, Travis was on the varsity basketball team. He was a member of Terre Haute Boys & Girls Club and St. Joseph University Parish. He was attending Ball State University with a major in pre-business. He was on the Ball State Cardinals Golf Team.

Sadly, Travis passed away in a car accident. In his memory, his family set up this scholarship to attend an institution of higher learning. The recipient of the Travis J. Smith Mental Attitude Award is chosen by Terre Haute South Vigo High School.
