The fire department is governed by a board of directors consisting of 6 community members and 3 firefighter members. The department has currently 18 firefighters who respond to between 400 and 500 calls a year for service. Types of calls consist of Medical, Fires, Vehicle accidents, and Hazardous conditions.

The primary purpose of the fund shall be to provide support to the Posey Township Volunteer Fire Department of Clay County, Indiana. This includes equipment purchases promoting fire safety and emergency response readiness for the residents of Posey Township.
