Wabash Valley Community Foundation and Arts Illiana Announce 30th Anniversary Art Collection Call for Artists and Request for Qualification
For 30 years, the Community Foundation has assisted individuals, families, and businesses to create permanent endowments that support charitable organizations and opportunities in West Central Indiana with its primary focus being Clay, Sullivan and Vigo Counties. Over that time, the Community Foundation has distributed more than $41 million in our communities, providing grants to charitable organizations and scholarships to help area students pursue higher education.
In commemoration of this milestone, the Community Foundation will host a year-long 30th Anniversary celebration to involve the philanthropic partners that have provided of their time, talent, and treasure to enrich lives in the Wabash Valley. The 30th Anniversary Art Collection is one of the anniversary events.
The Community Foundation seeks to acquire originally produced 2D or 3D art pieces to be permanently displayed throughout their offices, as well as in print and digital media. In recognition of the importance of the artistic community, the Community Foundation has created this opportunity to highlight the talent of visual artists living and working in the Wabash Valley service area.
“Since our earliest years, the Community Foundation has been supportive of the arts and the important role it plays in our communities,” said Beth Tevlin, Executive Director of the Wabash Valley Community Foundation. “The local arts sector and the creative people it employs not only enhances the quality of life, but provides a magnet for cultural tourism, attracts and retains talent, and contributes to the Wabash Valley’s overall economic vitality. In celebration of our 30th Anniversary, we are pleased to extend this opportunity to local artists from Clay, Sullivan, and Vigo counties and invite them to share their perceptions of the Community Foundation’s role in the community through visually reflective pieces of art.”
The call is open to artists affiliated in Clay, Sullivan or Vigo counties who are at least eighteen years of age. The Community Foundation seeks, as a general theme for the art, submissions that interpret the impact of the Community Foundation upon our community. This could include its donors’ philanthropy, its grantees’ programs or projects, changing perceptions within the community, or the Community Foundation’s Mission and/or Vision. The Community Foundation intends to purchase up to six individual pieces and for those works of art to visually tell an aspect or perspective of the Community Foundation’s story to those who visit their offices.
“It’s a great honor for Arts Illiana to partner with the Wabash Valley Community Foundation to help them celebrate a historic milestone that is their 30th anniversary – whose positive impact on our region has been nothing short of phenomenal,” said Jon Robeson, Executive Director of Arts Illiana. “The fact that this celebration is generously including our artists is very important. It’s truly reflective of how the Community Foundation is so mindful of all aspects of our daily lives and strives to empower our whole community.”
