Robert (Bob) R. Brown

Robert (Bob) R. Brown was born on Father’s Day, June 15, 1947, in Farmersburg, to Archie Brown and Mary Lou Gaskins Brown. Bob was a proud graduate of North Central High School’s class of 1965 and continued his education at Indiana State University where he majored in mathematics and minored in physics. Throughout his life, Bob made significant contributions to the Wabash Valley, excelling as a business owner and as a generous philanthropist.

Bob and his beloved wife of over 50 years, Joan Hartman Brown, were dedicated community leaders. Joan was a member of Maryland Community Church, Country Club of Terre Haute and the Sycamore Club. She volunteered for the Hux Cancer Center for over 20 years. She was a world traveler and helped start Camp Navigate.

Bob was also a devoted member of the Maryland Community Church, having served as an executive elder. His extensive community involvement included serving on the boards of the Wabash Valley Community Foundation, Terre Haute Symphony, Union Hospital Foundation, ISU Technology, Purdue Advisory Technology, Humane Society, YMCA, Camp Navigate, Village View School, Harvest Prayer Board, and Indiana State Athletics. Additionally, he was a part-owner of the Rex Baseball Team.

Bob’s legacy of service and leadership touched many lives and will be fondly remembered.
