2025 Annual Report

I am proud to share this report showing how your generosity continues to strengthen Clay, Sullivan and Vigo counties in meaningful and measurable ways. This past year was one of growth, thoughtful refinement, and a renewed commitment to ensuring that philanthropy in our region delivers lasting impact.

Throughout 2025, you, our donors and partners, helped us make more possible by supporting work that moves our communities forward and ensures that good things happen where they are needed most. As our assets and grantmaking capacity grow, so does our responsibility to be intentional about the direction we take and to make the best possible use of our donors’ dollars.

One key area of focus this year has been a careful review of our competitive grantmaking process. Guided by best practices and feedback from nonprofit partners, we are strengthening our grantmaking approach to better align resources with community priorities, provide greater clarity for applicants and deliver funding more efficiently. These efforts reflect our commitment to stewardship and impact, and we look forward to sharing more details in the coming months.

Our continued growth has been made possible by the generosity of our donors and the continued partnership of Lilly Endowment Inc. through its GIFT initiatives. In 2025, we successfully completed the GIFT VIII initiative and are starting on its newest challenge, an ongoing $2-for-$1 match. The matching program significantly strengthens our unrestricted community endowment funds, creating new opportunities for grantmaking benefiting our region today and for generations to come. These flexible resources allow us to respond to immediate needs while remaining focused on long-term priorities.

At every turn, the Community Foundation remains committed to accountability, transparency and continuous improvement. Our national accreditation through the Council on Foundations reflects this commitment and reinforces the trust our donors place in us. When we steward resources wisely and work together with purpose, we truly enrich lives in the Wabash Valley.
